The Building Science and Engineering Group (BSEG) is a collaborative research unit working at Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA. It was founded in 2010 by professors Dr. Jin Wen, Dr. Michael Waring, and Dr. Patrick Gurian with the objective of achieving more comprehensive and innovative approaches to sustainable building design and operation through the promotion of greater collaboration between diverse sets of research expertise.
BSEG is currently working on projects in a wide range of research areas, including: energy efficient strategies for delivering optimal indoor air quality, indoor air chemistry, smart grid, HVAC fault detection and diagnosis, Energy Conservation Measures (ECM) decision-making, and the adaptive behavior of building occupants. The BSEG researchers conducting these investigations are drawn from many different professional and academic backgrounds, including environmental, mechanical, aeronautical and chemical engineering, architecture, and the humanities.
As the BSEG group is still in its early stages, we are always looking to add new members and collaborators. We encourage those who have a general interest in researching sustainability in the built environment to contact us about future opportunities to work together.
